Calathea White Star issues...

Hello all.

Was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on the health of my White Star?

I have had it for about 6 weeks now and it has started to show some signs of ill health. First was a new growth that unfurled and the leaf was damaged, see image

This has now grown out and apart from the edges its not in too bad condition, however a lot of the other leaves have started developing spots on the top side of them.

Im not sure what they are and was hoping for some advice. The plant was situated in the bathroom, i can only guess that these spots are linked to resting water on each leaf but want to be sure, and to find out if they can recover or if i should prune them to premote new growth. I have now moved it out of the bathroom and placed it in my room with my Calathea Medallion and Stromanthe Trio Star.

Many thanks

I've got a Calathea, beautiful plants but very demanding. I had mine in intensive care for months, inside a plastic bag, because the North facing  (closed)window I chose for it, at the top of the stairs, was apparently too exposed to air currents and the leaf edges kept curling and browning. I have now moved it to a quieter bedroom and it is out of the bag and getting misted daily. So far so good, but what a faff for a few pretty leaves!
As you say, it was probably water drops, with maybe some chemical contamination or the added effect of light that affected your leaves, but they will still be working to feed the plant so I would be inclined to leave them if possible. When mine were too bad to leave I removed them, but it took ages for new ones to grow and they were much smaller, so that even many months later the plant is not as impressive as it was originally, though the new leaves are still looking ok.
