Tree fern
in Plants
I have a 3 ft deep border and am wondering if this will be sufficient space to plant a 5ft tree fern? Thank you.

Once the fab fronds grow and spread they are like a huge umbrella.
So hopeless if a wall or fence is behind it.
5ft one ...will cost a fortune.
6ft one here is £300.00

Do hope you have the right conditions for it...very sheltered , shaded.

The fronds can easily be 8ft long...sometimes more
So your fern will continually be bashing on the fence.
Will it look right in a border?
Suggest you try to see a garden that already grows them, to see one in the flesh...get advice etc.
It is a lot of money to get it wrong ..or for it to look out of place/odd stuck in a narrow border.
