Sweet corn a bit yellow?

Hi, my first post... we have an allotment and are growing sweet corns for the first time. They are looking good now, however a bit yellow? I attach a picture (not a very good one, sweet corns are bottom right) of the sweet corns a couple of weeks ago (1/6/2020). Other plot holders have sweet corn that are much greener. We are keeping the plants well watered. Any ideas?

    Did you fertilise the ground?
Sweetcorn need a lot of nitrogen.

Yep, horse manure which I dug in towards the end of last year. However, as you know the weather has been very wet towards the end of last year, then very dry the start of this year. So easily manageable.

Could be not quite fully established? I often get it after transplantation then a few weeks later they green back up and start to really put on growth.

I wouldn't hesitate to give them a foliar feed with a seaweed fertilizer such as Chase SM4 if I had any doubts. I usually do even if they are growing strongly, nothing worse than having sweetcorn growing for months and then a disappointing crop at the end.

Mine looked like that last week, this week they have greened up again and are romping away. with mine it was just some transplant shock, they grow out of that just fine.

My sweetcorn and many at the allotment had yellowish foliage, we put it down to the colder temperatures we've been having. From  reading up the cold stops the plant from up-taking nitrogen.

Thanks for all input. Reads like not too much to worry about. I will feed with a fish blood and bone meal fertilizer. Hopefully this will add the Nitrogen.

The Secret of Life is Timing !

On our allotment 5 of us had ALL of our sweetcorn eaten by the badgers for the last 3 years.

Ive given up so ask about to see if you have badgers.

I had 22 cobs and picked one and came back next day and the other 21 had gone.

    Good Luck   B)
