Does a truly squirrel proof bird feeder actually even exist? 😡

I wanted a feeder that would keep larger birds such as starlings away from the seed mix and I bought 2 of these:
Working well so far. Starlings are completely baffled. The squirrel took one look and left!
My goodness! That’s the Fort Knox of squirrel feeders!

I have 2 pole feeders and one traditional 'hook' feeder all with the dome shaped baffles, no squirrel access in 5 years though they, pigeons and others clear up underneath. My feeders are the Apollo ones that are easy to fill and have perching rings. Robins will feed but are not keen.
I like this baffles, but I’ve plumped for the Squirrel Buster Plus - we shall see...if it doesn’t work, in spite of recommendations on here and rave reviews, I may cry.

Some people I know actually feed the squirrels separately.
The reasoning being that if they have an easy food source they won't try the bird feeders.
If you filled with cheap unshelled peanuts etc it would probably take them longer to eat than shelled ones.

At our old house a neighbour fed them unshelled peanuts. The most common weed in our garden was peanut seedlings!
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    Tried that.
    They just devoured both sources!

I have tried everything to keep the pesky little verminous critters away from my sunflower seed feeder.
I bought what was marketed as a squirrel proof feeder, with the usual cage around it: they literally knawed through the bars, in about a week.
I have tried mixing the seed with copious amounts of chilli.
They stayed away a bit, then got used to their snacks being spicy.
    I am stumped.
I love having birds visiting the garden, but I haven’t the money nor the love for greys to keep buying sunflower seeds that are pillaged in 24 hours flat.

if you have a truly squirrel proof feeder, please get in touch 🙏🏻
We bought some squirrel baffles for both our feeders as we live alongside a woodland. They have stopped the little devils and now they just eat what is on the ground. Found that Chapelwood feeders are the best as they can be dismantled and washed easily. Not had to replace any feeders over the last 3 years!

I may go whole hog and put baffles on my squirrel buster, once it arrives. That’ll teach them 😈

    They are impressively agile creatures...

Our issue is crows, which are nowhere near as entertaining to watch.
  • You can consider bird feeder poles and use squirrel baffles that attach to the base or top of a feeder pole so the squirrel cannot continue climbing.

Do you have a connection to all these things you keep talking about @oliverjane305?
Every post seems related to birds, squirrels and feeders....and often Amazon  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
