Tips for an Orchid

LibbersLibbers Posts: 12
I have an Orchid but don't really know anything about them, its the first time I have had one. Does the plant attached need re-potting first of all, the pot is the one it came in (bought as a present). Is it only an inside plant or can they be planted outside? What do I do with the flowers, do I pull them off as they die and will they regrow next year. Thank you for any help.

  • Hello , we don't know much,  but we have had some for a few years . They are not an outside plant  ( UK). They don't go in normal soil . You can buy special orchid compost , the flowers fall off when they die . From what we read on the internet orchids grow on trees in the jungle not in the ground . They are tropical I believe . The wife keeps them on our front windowsill. I would suggest you type in a google search on how to look after orchids . Robert

I also don’t know too much about orchids, however I bought one last year in flower and when the flowers had died I cut it back to a node and it is now blooming again beautifully! I feed it once a week with orchid feed and mist the leaves occasionally. Hope this helps.
