Have I been growing a weed  for several months? Pic.

At the time I potted this up, I must have been convinced that I knew what it was. Several months later I have no idea. Some sort of 'cuckoo plant' that has taken over the pot maybe? It lives outdoors. Just fetched it in to take photos. It seems to be quite healthy apart from a couple of singed leaves.

I'm hoping it is something more interesting than a weed. Looks a bit like a Beech.

These things love turning up in pots :/

It's not gardenworthy but excellent for wildlife, maybe plant it on some waste ground somewhere that is lacking in trees.

Is it Willow trees that should be kept well away from houses, due to the damage they can cause to foundations? Or is that something slighty different?

willows are noted for vigorous, far reaching, water loving root systems. Which is why they're so often seen by lakes / rivers etc

Time for some gorilla gardening.  Put on your nicest balaclava, grab your mat black trowel, and go set it free.

    Um ... guerilla gardening     not   🦍 😉

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Maybe @Blue Onion disguises him/ herself in a gorilla suit. Great camouflage under certain conditions.

@Dovefromabove LOL 😆  Thanks for the correction.. I never noticed it was spelled different!  Learning happens every day!

@B3 It would probably make an excellent get-up for guerilla gardening.. except in the US where one would most likely end up shot, mistaken for big foot or some other nonsense.
