Taking care of lemon basil

Recently aquired some Lemon Basil from a friend, was in horribly wet soil so immediately transferred to good soil, it has been wilted ever since, trying to save it! Any tips? Cheers as always everyone

How long has it been wilted?  Was it an inside plant that you suddenly put outside?  Are the leaves soft?  Maybe add a picture and we can help.

It it looks like yellowing and leaf loss as a result of the over watering.  Let the soil dry out quite a bit between watering.  I stick my finger in the soil halfway between the plant and pot edge and feel for dampness an inch or two down, and water only as needed.  It looks okay otherwise, and should send up new growth from the side shoots.

Basil doesn't like going to bed in a wet bed, I always water mine first thing in a morning and they grow very well.
