Planting a cherry tree by a wall

I bought and planted a Prunus Accolade cherry tree about a year ago. It is planted infront of my boundary brick wall. I am now worried I have made a mistake in planting it by the wall incase the roots cause damage. Any advice please?

How close to the wall is it?

  • About 40cm in front of it, so quite close. I'm wondering if I can transfer it into a large wooden planter lined with root control material and place that in front of the wall. Then try to prune it regularly to keep it at a smaller size.
I was desperate to have a blossom tree in my garden as I love them, but probably should of done a bit more research before buying one.
