Fully concreted garden - drainage issues

Hi all
recently moved into a property where the garden was recently “refurbished” and looks lovely - artificial grass and paving slabs down the sides.
however noticed there were a number of drainage issues
Artificial grass doesn’t drain too well, underneath is a layer of sand and then a full layer of concrete which is laid on underneath of the whole garden.

we’ve tried to help it a bit by drilling holes into the concrete so water may drain but ofc this just gets filled by sand eventually.

similar issue down the sides of the garden where the slabs are where there is sand between the gap of the slabs and neighbours fence. Water doesn’t drain properly.

sorry there’s a lot of information (and you may need more!) but looking for advice and suggestions on what to do!

thanks

Collector pipes laid in the sand bed under the lawn would help, have them discharge to lower ground or a flower bed; or to your private drain if that's not possible.

  • My thoughts are that you'll continue to try this and that when the real solution is to remove the concrete. Dig it up and remove it.

Not difficult or as expensive as you might think.  Buy a breaker of your own typically £60 to £100 (You're going to sell it on eBay or Farcebooks market place for £30 to £40 when done getting some of your money back.

A little at a time break up the concrete in small sections, bag it up as you go on.  Getting rid of the concrete in the bags can be problematic or not depending on your local situation.  Some councils are still taking concrete and other similar waste as rubble free whilst others are not.  So disposal could be free.   Or, this one's a tad naughty depending on your own ideals, put one bag or two at most in the bottom of your green bin each fortnight after its been emptied.  It'll soon disappear.  Or pay to have it taken away.   Oh one last option....... Advertise it on Farcebook for someone to take away free.  Theirs always someone that wants some rubble to fill a hole.
