I'm moving daffs that have died back to another location. Can I plant them where I want, even at this time of year or should I wait till later in the year? With the ground being very hard and dry, I don't want to plant them again if they might die due to the dry conditions.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I often move them at this time of year. I have some which have just finished, and they'll be getting relocated. Easier with the ground dampened, as @Dovefromabove says.
