Redcurrant plant problem

Hello

I was hoping maybe you could help me with my redcurrant. It’s growing in a pot, and all been fine so far. I decided to check the soil ph and it was 7-8 so I added sulphur of iron. Lo and behold, about 2-3 weeks later the leaves started yellowing from the edges inwards, then only the leaf veins are green, then even they go yellow and the leaf easily comes off the branch if I gently tap it. all of the leaves are doing it pretty much. It is still ripening fruit. Not producing new ones though. I then added “soft fruit fertiliser” hoping it would solve any nutritional deficiencies. No luck though. How do I know what the soil is missing? Shouldn’t have I added the sulphur of iron? Did I add too much? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm surprised it was doing that well in a pot to start with, unfortunately based on the progression of the symptoms you descibe you will have burnt the roots with the sulfur. I have very little experience with the stuff but I am guessing it contains a lot of iron which in excess can also cause damage.
I wouldn't have thought that currants do well in a pot long term so the best thing for it is to pot it in the ground and water all that iron out. A ph of 8 is no issue for a currant but burnt roots will take a year to recover from. Hope it makes it.

Thank you. Oh dear. Not good. If I dug it out now and soaked it in water then replanted in fresh compost, is there hope for it?

I wouldn't do anything drastic while it is flowering, with some luck you will still get a harvest. Flush out the pot on a sunny day.
