No gooseberries!

I have three gooseberry bushes on the allotment.  One has been attacked by sawfly but the other two haven't but also have no fruit.... what should I do?

  • Join the club!!! Last year I had no fruit and thought that maybe I had pruned back too severely the autumn before (and a little too late) - this year I've discovered that bloody pigeons are eating them!!! They're not ripe, hard as bullets but the damned pigeons are scoffing the lot - I've tried silver foil, yellow hawk imitations and owls too - the only way to protect is to net your bushes - for me, a big job that I suppose I must get round to doing - certainly for next year
