Fatsia

I have a Fatsia that is fine at the base with lovely leaves but all the new leaves that have appeared this year have been twisted, misshapen  and have black marks on them . Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong

I had a sickly looking fatsia and attempted to repot it into fresh compost to see if that helped. The plant fell apart in my hands and the pot was full of vine weevil larvae in various stages. Have you taken it out the pot for a closer look?

Is it in full sun ? They are shade loving plants I have them dotted around the garden all bought together, 1 in complete shade is now some 7ft round while those in full sun get badly burnt every summer and are very slow growing. They due to move this autumn hopefully

Hi @sue.arkle1  -Looks like it's in a pot. They aren't pot specimens unless the pot is massive. Even then, they need adequate soil and care, and kept in a shady spot, as @Wilderbeast says.
They get frazzled by sun, especially the type of heat many places have experienced in the UK recently. They also need a lot of water to grow well and support the fleshy top growth.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks . It’s in a very large pot in the shade and is never dry so very perplexed !!

Do you have a picture of the whole plant?
Has it ever had the soil refreshed? What sort of soil is it growing in?

There's something wrong with the care and cultivation of it, but without adequate information, it's very difficult to give advice.  :)
New foliage is always rusty brown, and becomes green as they foliage matures, if the plant is happy.
