Ordering online

Where would you recommend ordering plants online from please? If they also deliver compost that would be a great help too thanks

What sort of plants are you looking for ? Bedding plants or perennials?
Just wondered if there are local garden centres near you that are doing deliveries, there are several near me doing that, including delivery of compost.

Trowell Garden centre is open. If you go late (5 pm)it is pretty quiet, but has a one way system round. They were also delivering in the local area.  Where about in Notts are you?

Erm, container plants more than anything, possibly perennials. I can't go out shopping, I'm shielding until after my father in laws funeral and hubby doesn't want to be driving anyway. I looked at Trowell online and they do deliver to me in Selston but compost is in-store only  :/ So far I've found Marshalls but don't know what the quality of their plants is like.

Are Jacksdale not doing delivery? It might be worth giving them a call, if not perhaps they could advise a quiet time.

    May I offer my condolences.

My daughter wanted some plants and contacted our local GC.  Ruxley Manor Garden Center.  Sorry we are closed.  Next door to them is a small GC called Ruxley Garden Center.  Yes luv, what would you like?  Within the hour the plants arrived.

With mail order.  We have to exercise some trust.  It can be a matter of.  You pays your money and take a chance.  Most suppliers offer a guarantee but sadly few take it up.  If possible, wait a while until you can visit in person.  Best wishes.

I'd read that thread and only order form the reliable sources.
You must have been lucky @bushtail. This forum is littered with complaints about them  :D
Fine for seeds etc, but best avoided unless you know what you're doing. Places like Claire Austin and Burncoose etc might seem dearer, but there's good reason. There's a good nursery in Ireland called Ballyrobert. They're very good.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Definitely call round local garden centres, the one near me sent round a lovely Klondyke Azalea during lockdown that wasn’t listed on their website.  Most garden centres that do have websites only have a fraction of their plant stock on there.

This was Bents in Warrington, they do have an online shop but I wouldn’t like to assume that the plants would be in as good condition after travelling to Nottingham as they are after only coming a few miles down one road.

Very sorry to hear of your loss.
