During lockdown I have painted my fences and shed all Ronseal Tudor oak (black). Shed had x3 coats, the fences x2. I have been really pleased with the contrast it gives to the colour of my planting. Everything Really stands out. See below. Hope that helps.
Thanks, we thought the dark colour was a big improvement. We have lived with an almost fluorescent orange fence and shed before hand. It would almost give you a headache!
Paint them to match! It will look much better if your woodwork matches - especially as you have chosen a dark colour that will make the plants the things that catch your eye.

If you paint your fence once, you'll paint it forever. That's why I leave my feather board natural wood!
Dulux used to have a mobile app that would use the phone camera to show a live picture of what different colors will look like in situ - as in, it cleverly changes your wall colors etc on screen as you move your phone around. Might help?

That's an excellent colour for setting off planting, perhaps a bit more 'traditional' than the new fashion for pure black/grey. It reminds me of granddad's creosoted fence.

You don't need to limit yourself to the very limited range of paints that are specifically for fences (Cuprinol, etc). In our previous home we had a specific colour mixed up at our local DIY store, and I think it may have been on one of those Dulux colour mixing machines. You can literally choose from hundreds of colours.
We intended our chosen colour to be grey, and it looked like that on the small colour swatch, but in reality it was more of a purple. It came as a bit of a shock at first, but we ended up loving it, and it looked great with the planting.
One thing to think about when painting fences, especially dark colours, is the inevitable bleed through to your neighbours side, particularly if the fence is owned by the neighbour.
I would say black, just finished a bit of our garden, with the fence painted harvest gold, saw the black on here changed to that and really pleased with the result.
