Plant leaves showing holes

Hi everyone,

This is the first time I'm dealing with gardening and I haven't had much luck it seems. Got a lily plant which turned out to have mosaic virus. And now I'm having issues with my dahlia plant, a hosta and a coleus. Please help me understand what is causing these holes, so I can learn to treat them (or throw the plants away before they infect the rest of my garden).

Thank you!

They don't look too bad. Expect some plants to be nibbled every now and then, especially from slugs.

I suspect they might be Capsid Bug damage. Try to get into the habit of removing any leaves or debris lying around on the soil.

    Thank you, Borderline!

I'm just confused about it being insect damage because the leaves aren't "chewed through". First they get little grey spots, which then turn black and yellow, then it goes through the leaf. So the progressive nature of the holes makes me think it's more like a fungus or bacteria rather than insects eating them.

I would guess some sort of sap sucking insect on the Delia?  You would never notice a tiny proboscis hole, but it would damage the leaf in that area?
