Skimmia - turning yellow?

This Skimmia has turned yellow and lost leaves.
Gets sun for most of day.
I have two - the other one is in partial shade and is looking green and healthy.
Is it getting too much sun or is there another problem?
Any advice appreciated.

Sun most of the day will be too much.

Thanks.  Should I try to move it - do you think it would revive or has too much damage been done?

    It's always worth a try Sharon  :)
I would make sure you have the new hole ready and waiting (always over estimate the size you will need), and make sure you dig round to get as much of the rootball as you can.
Give it a good drink when it's safely in the new location, and keep an eye on it.

I'd cut it back a bit too - that will help it's recovery. Make sure it's well soaked before trying to lift it, and then follow @AnniD's advice.
Watering afterwards is vital, until you see signs of recovery, and even then, if you live in a drier area, keep up the watering over summer. They can only cope with a lot of sun if their feet are very happy, and the soil's suitable.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • And worth mentioning they like acid conditions, so a periodic top dressing with ericaceous compost helps, or just an acid loving plant liquid feed will give them a boost.
