What the fatsia has happened here?

I thought this plant looked a bit wabbit and decided I'd pot it on. Turned the pot upside down to remove it and it split into 8 or so separate plants? Vine weevils? Should I just put these bits up in individual pots and see what happens? TIA

    there's not a lot root on any of those pieces.

    Think I've found the culprit? I want to get rid of this compost. How far away from my garden should I put it. Ewwwww. Gross gross gross

    If you spread it out near a bird table, they'll hoover them up
