Tree Fern Dicksonia Antartica

My 4ft tree fern has been in the greenhouse over winter, new fronds grew well , now after being outside, and no frost 3 new fronds have grown and have black tips as though frost bitten, it's been watered well every day, it's in a pot and in the sun. Can you help. I live in the North West the garden is fairly sheltered.

Is it being burnt by the sun?
    Are you watering the "trunk"?

Tree ferns like shade and a regular dampening of the trunk.
  • Thanks for your comments, I am watering the trunk a few times a day , yes I think now its sun scorch,  the older fronds are ok but the new green growth on the smaller fronds has black crumbly edges.
  • I too live in the north west and have 2 four foot tree ferns but mine are outside year round although they get very well wrapped up for winter. I water them at least once every day and give them a seaweed feed once a week. At the beginning of May there were indications this was going to be their best year yet as I had 11 new fronds appearing on one and 9 on the other. We then had a one night frost, May 14th. I carefully covered them with fleece but it wasn’t enough for the new growth. I was very sad when removing the fleece to find 5 of the 11 and 8 of the 9 fronds had turned black and have subsequently been removed. Fortunately both trees have now sent up 2 more fronds each so I am continuing to feed and water.
