Fennel after growing potatoes

Morning all,

My early potatoes should be ready in a few weeks. They are in fabric pots 30cm diameter, 35 cm high. Jacks magic compost. Once the potatoes are done, can I add some well rotten manure and plant one fennel plant in each pot? Is it to late to start fennel from seed now?

Thanks

Which kind of fennel do you mean?

Florence fennel rather than herb fennel?

Ah, yes Florence fennel (had to google) - the bulb ones you see in SM.

Fennel of any kind has a negative allelopathic effect (inhibits their growth) on potatoes but I don’t think that works in reverse, so I think you will be fine.

Many don't sow Florence fennel until on or after midsummer's day - have a read here:
Some were sown here earlier this week and are just germinating but will sow more after June 21st to see if it makes a difference wrt bolting.
