Curry plant

Bought this curry plant today. I've read that they don't like the cold and, here in my part of Spain it gets very cold in winter. For that reason I'm putting it in a pot then I can take it indoors in winter. Could anyone suggest a pot size? Don't want to mess this up like I did with the St Johns Wort.

    I had one in the UK that survived winter in a pot! However it didn’t do well the second winter. So repurchased and treat like an annual now as it got a little woody. Lovely smelling plant and will grow in any pot in my experience! Currently in a big trough with other herbs but have had in a 2 litre pot fine :)

    Mine lives outside in Dordogne and has survived -7° several times. You could put a fleece on it.
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Do I pot it up in some universal compost with maybe some gravel for drainage?

    I have one in a sheltered bed near the house which is rampant and has been there since before we moved in 23 years ago. I have to cut it back hard every year. I didn't realise that they are not completely hardy!

    I've always thought how strange that it smells of curry powder which is made of a mixture if spices.. I can understand mint and thyme varieties - sirt of- lemon and thyme, mint and pineapple, chocolate and cosmos but this seems to be a much more complex combination.

     It's not a plant I would have thought of cossetting like that to be honest. I would put it in the ground and take cuttings as insurance. It probably won't like being brought inside

    I would treat it like rosemary or lavender. It looks similar.

    I have one that has survived 6 winters outdoors in Scotland, and 2 severely hot summers. It's still kicking, so it's probably fine.
