9cm Agapanthus - Hayloft
I saw in this month's GW magazine an advert from Hayloft for three 9cm potted agapanthus "Twister" for £18 plus £4.95 P&P.
Given that a single bulb can cost around £5 even in the shops like Wilko I thought this wasn't a bad deal, especially given that it's way too late to plant bulbs or fleshy rhizomes right now!
Does anyone know anything about these plants and this company, will they flower this year if I plant them in a container as soon as I get them? I bought one of a different variety about this time last year and it flowered in the summer, but it was in a one litre pot.

My Agapanthus (not from the above company) haven't begun to send up their flower stalks yet, and the foliage is still relatively small, so there is a possibility the ones you are thinking of buying might flower this season. If you do go ahead with the purchase, don't put them in a pot which is too big for them (smaller is better). Do water regularly, and give them a weekly feed (tomato feed or similar is better, to promote flowering). Keep up with the weekly feed even after flowering, until Winter. That way you will be more likely to get more flowers next year.
Last summer B&Q had large agapanthus Twister plants , with lots of flower stems for sale. I think a 2, maybe 3 litre pot for a tenner. I would wait and check them out and see if they have them again, if you have a store near you. They often sell popular varieties year on year.
My Twister plant is slower to get going again in spring than many other of my agapanthus varieties and has not put up flower stems yet. It is a very pretty variety .
I just bought fireworks.
I paid £22 + VAT for a 3l potted one from a wholesale nursery last year.
If you want flowers this year you're better off popping down to the GC and picking up 2 - 3l stock.
Ive only ever bought Hellebores from them when they were on a very cheap offer, all plants were very good.
