Can  you help?. After the large headed alliums Purple Sensation, etc., and large white ball alliums do I cut back to the ground after flowering or let them die back naturally, the leaves are already dead and dry.   Also do I leave them in the ground or raise them up for next year. Thank you

Unless you want lots of self sown Sensation bulbs dead head them. I can only speak for my plants but when the flower has lost its petals and is just a pom-poms of green developing seed heads I give the stem a tug and it usually pulls away from the bulb and I dispose of them. If yours pull the bulb out too just replant it. They are very hardy and don't need lifting.
  • Similar to daffs you leave them in to strengthen for next year.
  • Thank you Philippa.
