Fast-growing plant, identification help needed!

Hi, am new to the forum so hope this is an acceptable use. We have approx. 8 of these shrubs growing in our garden and are not sure what they are. The grow rapidly and shoots head up nearly vertically. The bark is a distinctive tiger-like pattern, and they've just developed white/pale yellow flower buds (a bit like elderflowers?). This one has been quite heavily pruned around the base.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Hi @emily.oliver and welcome 😊

You're correct ... those are the native elder ... Sambucus nigra 👍
