Identification help please

    1) is a sedum (now renamed to hylotelephiums!)
    2) looks like a dried-out or dead corkscrew rush (Juncus effusus cv. Spiralis)

    I reckon the second photo might be Carex Buchananii, Leatherleaf Sedge. The leaves curl up when they age.

    We had that in a previous garden ... it looked a lot like that.  

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Thanks for all your replies. They are so helpful. :)
    1. The sedum hasn't flowered in the last 6 years and I wonder if the soil is too wet as it grows next to the Sisyrinchium californicum?
    2. I now know how tocare for my Carex Buchananii :)
