Hello Chive, ruby and SGL. Chive its good to see you. No need for apologies but you were missed. How exciting for your Mum. I'll bet you enjoy her delight as well. Happiness does rub off on people! Rosie I meant to say earlier, that I, too, love the sound of a 'Hello Kitty' hairdryer. BTW 'hello' to our Kitty too, if she gets chance to look in and a Yoo Hoo to Pottie Pam.
SGL, have you not had chance to watch Gardener's World yet? A very clever viewer had posted a little video (which I really like seeing on GW) about recycling, and he has made an amazing rose arch and a garden cage out of his children's old trampoline. His son is now 21 he said! I won't say any more as I don't want to spoil the programme for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Sorry Chive, your post snuckered in there! When/if you get the chance then watch last Friday's GW.

Afternoon folks, I really enjoyed this weeks GW, I'm loving the little video clips and think they should continue with them after lockdown.  I'ts great seeing what other people are doing in their gardens and some of the tips have been really useful.
We're having a BBQ in the garden with Secondborn (if the rain stops) this afternoon.  I'll be mostly spending my time keeping Gabriel from falling in the pond as he tries to fish for tadpoles.  Before that I'm hoping to try out my new edging shears.  I've also ordered long handled secateurs after watching Monty use them on GW.  I hurt my back yesterday over reaching to deadhead the top of the rose arch.  We have long handled loppers but they are much too heavy and not delicate enough for the job.  Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Afternoon all. After a drizzly, cool start the sun's now coming out and it's warming up fast. Might plant the tomatoes out this afternoon.

I've been enjoying the GW viewers' video clips as well - some people are very resourceful. This week I thought the lady with the upper body disability was inspirational. She had a beautiful plot and was quite determined that her physical limitations were not going to stop her doing anything she needed to do in her garden.

I'm also rather enjoying the fact that Monty has gone a bit 'back to basics' for all the new gardeners tuning in - showing us how to prick out seeds, take cuttings etc. I've known how to do those things for years but I still enjoy watching a demo.

@Yviestevie - I've got some of those long handled snips - they're great! Mine aren't telescopic, but they're long enough for me to be able to dead head large rose bushes in the borders from the path. Stops me trampling over all the other plants to get to the job. Top tip - you need to keep them razor sharp.  You obviously can't steady the rose with one hand while you cut them, and if the snips are not sharp you end up pulling and tearing at the rose stem. I have that tee-shirt🙄

Debs hope the dinner goes well and the garden is. Looking good.  Chive I’m glad mum enjoyed the trip out in the car.  Hazel as Chive mentions hope you’re finding the exercise machine handy.  LB it will be good when your nephew has sorted out the gate.  Lily hope you’re both getting on your walks and are okay.  A breezy day today.

It’s Lily’s tv today and the sun is shining bright and it’s very warm.  Happy Fathers Day to those with US and those that were and our memories.

Afternoon everyone, a lovely day very warm with a nice breeze perfect to get those wet things dry Rosie,
LB the trampoline frame idea sounds interesting, I haven’t watched this weeks GW episode yet but the home videos have been really inspiring.
Enjoy the BBQ today Yvie sounds like fun, I bet the pond is a big attraction for the children,
Topbird hope you had a successful afternoon with your tomatoes. I liked Frances idea for drying herbs on a suspended rack in her shed i may try to make something like that
Hazel you’ll both be very fit at this rate! Crumbs the parcel is on a magical mystery tour, let’s hope you can track it down soon 🤞

Hello all. Glad I got my gardening done this morning - it has been a tad wet this afternoon. Yvie, I do hope that you had good weather for your family BBQ today and that you had lots of laughter and chatter. T'Bird, I thought that young lady on GW was inspirational. I have great admiration for her. I, too, have some light weight, long lop pruners and they work with a rope to close the lopper and remove long stems/prune etc. I have to really concentrate when using it though as it does tend to waft about if there is so much as a light breeze. Rosie, I hope that you have managed to get the cloth things sorted. Mine would be getting extra rinses.
Hazel, I don't know who you ordered from but you should not have had to pay for the returns label. Sounds highly inefficient of them. I trust they will reimburse you for the item AND the return costs. When you get your Wonder Woman biceps you can go round and sort them out!

Hello everyone .Even though the weather is very changeable I have done quite a lot of gardening . Had to move a few plants from pots into the ground. The roots had filled the pots .Some of the stuff i thought I would have to do ,have been done for me . That was very nice of my OH .My bee house is only half done .It has been glued and nailed .The glue will go off overnight .Hazel ,don’t overdo it.
You need to be able to move around without ouch ouching every time you move .
LB , fingers crossed for better weather this week . Then you could have your gate in place .The bee house house is being made from an old bird house .
