Pumpkin small sugar

Anyone growing these? I've got 4 fruits via 2 vines and all 4 fruits grew really fast for the first week after pollination, got to about 10cm diameter and then they've either stopped growing or are growing incredibly slowely for the past 2 weeks.

One fruit changed from light green to extremely dark green (almost black) but its still at around that 8/10 cm size.

Is this normal for pumpkins?

I watered almost everyday through the heatwave so I know its not a water issue. I've fed a few times with tomato fertiliser (I feed little and often) as I'm growing these in pots ( 1 vine per 70 × 60 cm pot).

Dark green is perfectly normal for a growing pumpkin that bit sounds fine. It's only just June those pumpkins have several months to double in size so I wouldn't worry about them growing slowly at the moment. I would say if they are in pots you may need to water every day heatwave or not, but only you can see if they are drying out or not.

Thanks for your thoughts skandi; so once its dark green it does continue to swell? I ask because I know with many fruits/veg, once they turn that dark colour they next turn red (or orange)! and then that's that, fruits done.

If someone thats grown these (or pumpkins in general) could tell me the pattern of rapid growth for a week followed by very slow growth is normal, I'll take a deep breath and relax
