Spikey Plant ID?

We've had these two plants in the garden for about 9 years.  This is the first time they have flowered with a very large spike through the centre with what appears to be purple flowers.  The leaves are all green and very sharp at the tips.  I don't recall buying a Yucca so wondered if anyone could help identify.  I've tried many websites but can't find exactly this plant.  We live in Devon and the garden can be quite dry and south-westerly facing.  Thanks.

    We have had ours for some years. In 2010 the very cold winter destroyed most of it apart from a very small offset at the bottom. Removed it and planted it against a wall with a protective screen over the top to prevent the cold rains in the winter.
    The flower spike will continue to grow and ours then decides to bend over the path so we always have to tie it up. The flowers will then open.
    It lasts for some time. Ours is just about over.
