Oriental poppy buds drop off Or open deformed.. odd one or two are ok though

  Lack of water?

  Ours are in a sunny position in the morning and then in shade so they aren't drying out.

  They get watered almost every night... poppY is on the left.  It could be the tree taking all the water?

  There is nothing better for the garden than good old rain.

  Forecast says some of us will get some tonight/tomorrow. Hopefully you will and the poppy will pick up.

  Yes - nothing replicates proper rain.
  You'd be surprised just how much water a mature poppy would need. Lots of fleshy top growth, so it's hard for them to support all the flower buds too 

  It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
