Santolina lemon fizz

My santolina lemon fizz was recently planted in good sandy soil with excellent drainage. However, it has started to go brown in patches at the bottom. I have tried to research this but, other than a hard frost (of which there is none), I can only come to the conclusion that the local cat is partial to it as a toilet. Any tips would be gratefully received.

Is it just a few leaves, or does it appear to be spreading ?

There are 2 patches at the bottom but a little early to tell if it's spreading as we only noticed it last night. Will have to look again in the morning.

If possible, see if you can post a photo . That may help  :)
