Greenhouse Too Hot?

I have lots of annual and perennial flower seedlings sown in small plug trays in the greenhouse. Germination has been OK through April and May but the seedlings are very slow to develop. Most have yet to produce true leaves after weeks. The temperature in the greenhouse has been in excess of 50 degrees on most days due to the amount of sunshine. Is this likely to slow development? Thanks.

Overly high temperatures for prolonged periods will cause problems as plants cannot function in very high temps.
Assuming the doors and windows are open, your only options are some shading (old net curtains are good) and/or regularly damping down the greenhouse floor (basically soaking the floor and letting evaporation cool the area)
But it looks like temperatures are dropping over the next few days, so it may be less of a problem

Yes. The plugs need to come out into the shade and above ground level (I have rabbits to deal with too!). Then they need to go back in at night for the moment. It's a case of weather watching and then deciding if they need to stay in or out! I usually leave plants like that in the GH if it is cloudy / windy or heavy rain (ha!).  Good luck!
