Ornamental Cherry tree, diseased? honey fungus? HELP!

Hi there. Our cherry tree is behaving very oddly this year. very few leaves, no blossom. We have suffered from honey fungus on that side of the garden in the past but have not seen it on/near the tree. I'm at a loss. Its such a lovely tree would love to know what's wrong and if it's saveable, thank you lizzie

I'm sorry Liz, but that tree looks very dead to me and I suspect the honey fungus. It travels underground on black bootlace roots which can travel a long way. I think you may have to remove it and if you replant, you will have to choose another species that is not affected by honey fungus - the RHS has probably got an online list.

It's possible, but my ornamental cherry is almost 30 and we have rampant honey fungus.
