Veg bed

I have just done a raised veg bed 8 ft x 4ft x 20", it is stood on compact earth, is it deep enough?

    I would say so dtbmufc, depends what you are intending to grow but most veg will be happy in 1' or so.  Even brassicas which should be planted deep should be OK.  What are you planning to grow in it?

    Peas. broad beans, turnips, radishs anything hardy for now.

    They will all be fine then.  I have a hard pan of clay about a foot down and I grow all of those (except radishes, yuk!) and parsnips and carrots.
