Moving a Philadelphus
I need to dig up a Philadelphus "Belle Etoile". It's been in the ground for about 8 years, it's in bud at the moment, so I don't mind letting it flower first. A friend will take it, but will it transplant successfully with a mid summer move, or will it be better just binning it. Same question regarding a fern, no idea which type, but it has a height of about 5.5 feet, and has been in the ground for about 12 years.

It will be heavy and very hard work to dig it up with a decent root ball.
Neither may survive such a drastic move in mid summer
But worth a go.
