I did wonder about the white ermine moth but it seems a lot more hairy. My friend's ones might youngsters, though.

Garden tiger moth or Granville fritillary are also possibilities but I am not sure.

I thought Granville fritillary is restricted to the Isle of Wight and a very few other small locations.
