hi all, my partner was given this plant last year, does anyone know what it is ?. much appreciation for all comments. thanks john.

    I think you have two plants in that pot.  The taller one looks like a young Japanese quince (Chaenomeles) but may be a willow like these:
    but not sure what the low-growing one is.
