    Looks like a large variety of aphid.  Any willow trees around?

    No willow trees around the garden, I think I can just see one at the end of the street near the beck.. It was right next to an aphid, and was a whitish colour to the standard one's green

    gosh, who knew there were so many types of aphid... Thanks, looks like a root aphid, who knows what  it was doing on a leaf
