Iris

Could anybody advise me on what to do now my bearded iris have finished flowering. I split them last year & have read differing opinions on whether this should be done annually or every 3 years. Also should I leave them in the ground to die back fully.
thankyou to anyone who is kind enough to reply.

    Yes - just leave them in situ. If they have a good , sunny site, that's the best spot for them , so that the rhizome gets a good baking.
    Usually it's approximately every 3 years for splitting them, because that's about the length of time they grow well for, before the centre starts to die back, and all the viable material is round the outside like a ring.  :)

    @Fairygirl
    Would now be a good time to lift & split them?
    Just another day at the plant...

    After flowering is usually best, and allows them time to settle in before dormancy.  :)

    You can do it in spring too, as long as conditions are good.
