Runner Beans

In recent years my runner beans have failed to produce much blosson on the stems but tends to produce a lot on the overgrown tips, the parts I want to nip out. Any suggestions as to why this should be?

    My runner beans have been growing very happilly, good healthy growth, just starting to flower, then I realised that they've stopped increasing in height and have stopped at about 4ft. I now notice that the growing tips have turned brown. Anyone any ideas why this is happening?

    Several of mine got their tops snapped off during a heavy hail storm a week or so ago.
    They've already grown new side shoots to replace the snapped top.
    Only other thing I can think of is an adventurous slug or snail

    A photo may help us give some advice.

    Runner beans are all about preparation - fail to prepare, prepare to fail, as the saying goes.  I grow 24 plants in a 3ft x 3ft square, using self made sticks in a ring and the only 'help' I give them is to gently tie the vines to the sticks if poor weather is imminent.  Other than that, they should solve their own problems, see attached?
