Rose cutting

pitter-patterpitter-patter Posts: 2,429
I’ve taken some rose cuttings at the end of last year and this one seems to be thriving. Should I leave in the pot until winter and transplant it then or can I give it a separate pot now? It also has flower buds, should I remove those?

There is another rose stem in the pot that is still green, but doesn’t show any signs of growth.

Hi pitter patter. Are there any roots that you can see from underneath the pot?

No roots underneath yet, but it’s quite a tall pot. The stem was already branched when I took the cutting. I wasn’t expecting it to take.

I would definitely remove the buds as you want it to focus energy on getting a good root system going.

If you move it too soon, you run the risk of losing it if it doesn’t have enough roots. Personally I would leave it for now.

Thank you, @Omori. I’ll move it in the autumn.
