Damson Tree leaves shriveling

Hi I have a Damson tree bought at 4ft high but not sure how old ‘an not sure if that matters’ . I’ve recently noticed the new leaves on the ends are shriveled/ withering/ possibly eaten? I would appreciate some help on this as I have tried to find something on this but no luck so far . Justin.

Damsons prefer cooler, moist climes so I suggest generous watering during this dry period.  At least 10 litres at a time, poured slowly, once a week or more often if very dry and warm.   That will help it recover as would a drink of tomato food.   Don't spray.  If it is aphids, the ladybirds and hoverflies will come and deal with them as will sparrows and tits birds feeding babies in the nest.

  • Thank you very much for your replies sounds like nothing to worry about which is good news, I best keep my eye out for some ladybirds lol. The tree is in a large barrel type tub so will make sure it’s watered regularly and will add some tomato feed too.

Better to get it in the ground if you can.   Not really good in pots.
