Tree fern frond

This Dicksonia has been unhappy (and was when we rescued it!). We have tried to do what it needs but this year this frond developed.
Any ideas?

    Apparently many plants this year have been developing strange stems/flowers which is probably due to the extreme weather over the last 6 months. Not much you can do about it unfortunately.
