My nice flat lawn is bumpy

I laid a new small lawn which will be 2 years old this summer. I put a lot of work and new soil into getting it flat and level and I'm pretty happy with it aesthetically.

It's mostly for show but I've noticed when you sit on it, it's pretty uncomfortable - lots of small bumps maybe about golf-ball sort of size. It wasn't like this when I prepared the ground or after laying the turf so what has happened, and what/when is the best option to get it smoother here in Northern England?

I just dealt with same problem up here.  It can be due to freezing conditions and cold and wet, earthworms or weeds.
I did a deep scarify, topped with compost, overseeded and rollered.  Watered every day until seed germinated.  Did this four weeks ago and now more lush so I dare weeds to even try!  Bit of a mission but depends how important it is to you.   I find that up here it is more successful to sow a lawn before June and as long as it is well watered it is fine.

Now mowing normally, also on medium height as too low leaves lawn more vulnerable.
    Here, there and everywhere
