Ornamental stones top of pot plant

I have 4 pots in my small garden
1 lavender
1 bay tree
1 daisy
and another I’m not sure on the name I’ll attach a picture so maybe someone could identify for me? My question is I’ve coved the top soil with Ornamental stones on all of these, is this ok? or will it cause issues for the plants?

Your plants will be fine with a stone mulch, it will help keep weeds at bay and slowing water evaporation. And it looks good :)

Most stones are ok, but avoid anything with limestone as rainwater will very slowly dissolve it and make the compost too alkaline.
Do you know what the stones are that you've used?
Can't help with the id tho.

Thanks for replying I’m not too sure on what stones they are as haven't  got the packaging anymore, they do seem to be slightly chalky/dusty if that’s any help?

If they are a bit dusty they could well be limestone as limestone does break down slowly, and they do look rather like limestone chippings.
Personally I'd use something else to be on the safe side - granite or quartz chips are both widely available.
Garden centres that sell pond or tropical fish usually have a range of safe pebbles and grit suitable for aquariums and ponds that will not contain any limestone.
