Wisteria transplant.

I have a Wisteria and a rambling rose growing on a pergola. The rose has taken over and I am happy to leave it where it is,but the wisteria seems to have slowed down with few flowers and no new growth.
I want to move the Wisteria to a more suitable place.
It's 4 years old and the main stem about 1" in diameter and 3' high before it starts branching out and climbing up the pergola. As it is not possible to untangle it beyond this point, can I cut through the main stem, dig it up and transplant it?
