Deer! Grrr!

Any advice on how to keep deer out of my vegetable garden? We live in a fairly rural location and have tried sonic devices but they dont seem to work.

Needs to be a 12 foot deer fence. They'll jump anything lower.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

It's why we have miles of it in Scotland.
Maybe those wee diddy Muntjac things can't, but most deer are capable. Deer fencing is around that height for that reason.

  • Depends on breed of deer. Muntjac don't jump high but as @Fairygirl says the others jumping ability is impressive

We have got away with 8 foot fences .... the Surrey deer (roe) don’t jump so high 🤣.

We have done it two ways - one is using trellis panels - expensive and quite time consuming but looks good when up.  The other is to stretch wire deer fencing across posts, then plant beech saplings (bare root whips .....very cheap).  The beech grows quickly and in 2-3 years you can’t see the wire fencing any more - but you then have a hedge to maintain.
