Tape for Damaged Plants

During the night one of the neighbours' cats (it wasn't ours, he's not allowed to stay out at night) knocked over the water feature which partially landed on one of my bapitisias and bent it over. I propped it back up with a small tree stump but then a few moments ago, OH heard a crash and saw our next door neighbour's cat sheepishly leaving my newly knocked over water feature. My poor baptisia had been bent over further and the stem damaged.

I've now taped it to a couple of wooden kebab sticks with some masking tape higher up the stem to keep it upright but is there any proper tape for this kind of job? Is there anything I can tape the damage up with?

Is there enough of the stem left below the damage so that you could just cut off the damaged top?

    Cats and neighbours eh....?

I'd say the damage is about half way down but as it's due to flower next month, I'm not really wanting to cut the top off. I just want it to hang in there until it's bloomed.

To be honest, our neighbours' cats aren't too much trouble compared to some horror stories although I'm not impressed with whoever it was that left an unpleasant smelling present in the middle of my carex bronze curls the other day 🤨 I have a wildlife camera and over the last few weeks I've counted 7 different cats (not including our's) wandering around our garden!
