Murky Container Water

Hello.  I wonder if anyone can help.  I am growing a mini waterlily in a large jam pan, but the water is very murky, even when I skim the algae of it.  Is there anything I can do about this?.  Is t

    if it ever rains, try to collect some rainwater. I think it's what tap water does when the sun gets to it

    place it in a shadier spot. Full sun will promote algae. In a pond this would get eaten by fish, tadpoles and insects. Since you have none of that you will need to replace the water every once in a while and give the pot a good scrub to get rid of the algae.

    Ps there are pond solutions that can remove algae but have never bothered -maybe someone else knows of a product

    It's going to heat up enormously in that container.
    You can chuck in some watercress to help with the algae.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    One method is to use barley straw and put it in a small net bag and lower it into the pond. After a few days the water will clear.
    We haven't access to barley straw so in the past have used cuttings of long grass and this has worked.
