Horsetail

I've sowed new grass seed but the garden is showing alot of horse tail weed. Can anyone tell me with how to kill this weed without killing the new  grass ?

    If you can limit the horsetail to the lawn then it will not be able to survive regular mowing, when you start. If it cannot photosynthesise then it will exhaust itself trying to get above ground.  Until then you should pull out the shoots by hand. If it spreads to the rest of the garden it will be almost impossible to eradicate!

    We have lots of horsetail and just live with it as our garden is very big! The best place we've found to have it is in the lawn, as mowing it really does seem to stop it popping up. Ours pushes through tarmac!! It's a tough weed and spreads very easily! If you only have a little, then maybe try to get rid of it before it spreads. You'll have to dig down very very deep and burn it!! Take out every little piece and don't put it on the compost! Good luck!

    Don't bother trying to dig it out as you won't win.  Mowing will weaken growth in lawns and it will finally pretty much disappear.  In borders, put it out and chuck it in the non-reclyclable bin.  Don't put it in the compost heap.
