To make the holes how about a metal barbecue skewer, small screwdriver, old pair of scissors but be careful where you do it, I speak from experience!

@herbaceous I have tried it with a screw and a hammer but it wouldn’t work as the base of these bottles are much thicker than the sides..

anyhow I managed to make holes in the paper coffee cups so I’m ok for now. Might just get more of them from the shop for the next batch of seedlings..

How about heating the skewer and melting a hole or two.😁

I’ve tried that actually.. but the skewer doesn’t get hot enough (or rather cools down too quickly) and the plastic base is too thick. It’s alright.. I’ll stick to coffee cups for now :) will be potting them up later on in the late evening sun

I use an old screwdriver for holes, or an old chisel.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I’m considering whether to just invest in a light weight drill to be honest.. the thought of jamming some really hot sharp object into thick plastic makes me worry about losing balance and stabbing myself instead lol! I’ve got a week to sort that out.. as I’ve potted you the older ones now.. I just realised that the good thing about using coffee cups is that I could take the lid as use it as mini saucers which I thought was cute..

I even threw in a yoghurt pot - even that was hard work carving out a drainage hole - it sort of cracked as I made it but at least water can drain now lol
